"Camping Under A Starry Sky"

My partner and I just spent three weeks out in the wilderness traveling through some gorgeous but very remote places, some days we drove for five hours or more and didn't pass a single other vehicle , no noise, no pollution and no other people for hundreds of kilometers. This is our camping setup for the trip... We've taken to calling it the Taj Matent, a little private joke play on the Taj Mahal because it's so massive.

The main tent has a king sized mattress inside and there are also a few huge awnings that roll out off the side of the trailer and car to provide heaps of shelter if the weather turns nasty or if you need some shade, because sometimes there just aren't enough leafy green trees.... especially out in the desert. The stars were amazing though so most nights we didn't put the awnings up, we just sat out under the massive starry sky and watched for shooting stars... it was so magical.

It's been a really rough year for me with the fire destroying my business and dream job all in one fell swoop so this little trip away has been a godsend, giving me some time to relax, reflect and re-focus myself. It's like turning the page from a stressful nightmare into a calm serene place where I can finally catch my breath and think straight again.

I'm rebuilding everything all over again which really sucks and will take quite some time but ultimately will be worth it, I can't really imagine doing anything else with my life, for me creating and designing is life and I wouldn't be happy doing anything else.

If you love my work please consider supporting me by purchasing a print, this helps me to keep doing what I love to do and you get a fabulous print to hang on your wall, it's win, win. =D

And I thought our oversized tent setup was "glamping" XD Is that all coming off the ute or are you towing a camper? Gotta love how crazy the stars are when there's no other light source, reminds me of when we're doing bonfire nights at one of the beaches back home and we're away from the built up areas and it's all just stars.

Ha, yep this is totally glamping, this isn't a ute it's a modded GQ Patrol 4x4. You can't see it in this picture but the tent is mounted on a box trailer that my clever other half completely rebuilt from the ground up into a sturdy trailer beast that can handle the tough off road conditions, we did this so we can set up camp then unhitch the trailer and go exploring. It carries his quadbike under the tent and there are extra fuel and water tanks equipped on it as well as a massive steel tool box that has all our dry food stores and room for extra crap like all the cooking gear, generator and our trusty chainsaw, we joke that when the zombie apocalypse comes we'll be ready. :D
